ANOTHER FUN DAY

One of my best friends in the percussion world is the amazing Afro-Cuban and Brazilian specialist Michael Spiro. Michael was here at NIU today, where he gave 5 hours of clinics and workshops. His appearance was sponsored by our student percussion club, and I'm really happy to see the students be able to take charge of raising funds, making all the arrangements, taking care of his transportation, etc.

Michael was awesome as always, so knowledgeable on history and culture in addition to his incredible talents and abilities. On top of all that, he's really funny and a great person.

Tonight we had Michael, Robert Chappell and his wife Suzanne, Greg Beyer and 3 of the students over to our house for dinner and had a wonderful evening. One day with Michael is never enough - it's best when he can be in residence for at least 3 days. We're already looking forward to the next time he can be here and we can hang with him for a longer period of time.
